Rural Development

Of the total population of India, about 85 Crore people live in rural areas which constitute about 70% of India's population. Agriculture contributes nearly one-fifth of the GDP in India and almost all of its agricultural production is from rural area. which makes Rural Development as one of the most important factors for the growth of the Indian economy. 35.7% of Indians in rural areas as illiterate. Illiteracy and lack of resources makes direct impact on rural health and agriculture as they lag in the area of technology, which in turn result in low productivity from rural side of country. Foundation is working constantly to develop rural areas in nearby the blocks of Nagpur and currently heading 5 projects which aims at improving rural people’s livelihoods in an equitable and sustainable manner, both socially and environmentally, through better access to assets (natural, physical, human, technological), and services that enable them to improve their livelihoods on a sustainable and equitable basis. The basic objectives of Rural Development Programmes have been alleviation of poverty and unemployment through helping them to create basic social and economic infrastructure.

Education

EDUCATIONs a basic human right and a significant factor in the development of children, communities and countries. Opening classroom doors to all will help break the intergenerational chains of poverty because education is intrinsically linked to all development goals, such as supporting gender empowerment, health , reducing hunger, economic growth and building peace. In India more than 95 percent of children attend primary school but just 40 percent of Indian adolescents attend secondary school and they do not have the awareness necessary to improve both their living conditions and those of their children. The primary reason behind this is lack of awareness and poverty. Currently foundation is running two schools providing free of cost quality education for the children who were unable to access education. Foundation focuses on providing quality education and is aimed at actually educating the children, imbibing the true ideals of humanity in them and thus enlightening the future generation paving the way to a prosperous "tomorrow" built on a strong "today".

Homeless Shelter

Food, Shelter and clothes are the 3 basic needs of human being. But people which are marginalised by society due to some physical and mental disabilities, Old people which are abandoned by their families, orphan children, displaced people, small scale workers find it difficult to fulfill all this three needs. They don't have shelter to live; usually sleep in filthy, unhygienic, and open environment, sometimes they do eat or sometimes dont. It causes spreading of epidemics, crimes, social degradation. NMC in association with Sahyadri Foundation has jointly set up a night shelter (Ratra Niwara) to accommodate homeless people Which provide them with all basic needs to live a proper life. Currently foundation is supporting more than 50 people and looking forward to reach more such people.
